Sokoto State executive council has  approved the sum of over N578m for the purchase of 118 transformers.with a view to enhancing power supply in urban and rural areas of the state. Sokoto State executive council has  approved the sum of over N578m for the purchase of 118 transformers.with a view to enhancing power supply in urban and rural areas of the state.
Commissioner of information, Alhaji Isah Bajini Galadanci made this known at  a joint press briefing with the Head of Service, Commissioner for Rural Development and Commissioner for Justice on the outcome of the state executive council meeting.presided over by Governor Aminu waziri Tambuwal
Similarly the council also approved the purchase of 82 feeder pillars at the cost of over N73m.
Commenting the state Head of Service, Dr Buhari Bello Kware, Said the council also approved the proposal of the state council of the Nigeria Labour Congress.  (NLC) to purchase   motorcycles to be giving out to middle cadre civil servants on loan to ease their  transportation.problems
Dr Buhari Bello Kware therefore explained that, under the arrangement, the labour union has entered into an agreement with the Heritage Bank to secure a loan of N2bn  to purchase the motorcycles.
The Head of service further explained that state government, would serve as guarantor while deductions will be made from the salary of the  beneficiaries.
He also pointed out that the council has advised the NLC to renegotiate for the review of  the bank interest and repayment period.
The  council also approved the variation claim of the ongoing renovation of Sokoto State House of Assembly complex.
Commenting state  Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Suleman Usman(SAN), said the council has approved the enactment of laws for the fiscal responsibility and revenue consolidation and integration .
He said the council deemed it necessary to consider certain laws that are of immense importance to the state.
The commissioner said  that all the bills will be sent to the state house of assembly for further legislative actions.
