Shehu Sani has described as a welcome development the decision of a court in Kaduna to grant Ibrahim El-Zakzaky permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) and his wife have been held in detention since 2015 following clashes between the group and the military.

The former lawmaker in a tweet on Monday, August 5 applauded those who stood and appealed for the decision.

See his tweet below: Legit.ng earlier reported that the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, El-Zakzaky, was granted permission to travel to abroad for medical treatment.

The permission was granted by a high court in Kaduna state on Monday, August 5. The court permitted El-Zakzaky to travel to India for treatment.

Recall that the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Cardinal John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan, asked the federal government to respect the order of the court and release El-Zazaky from detention.

He said that the best way to address any infraction of the law by members of the religious group is to prosecute such persons following the due process of law and not to apply extra judiciary methods. (Legit.ng)
