Unfortunately the Farmers/herdsmen issue is now hijacked by ethnic jingoists and religious bigots who, through deliberate and well articulated effort have been executing long thought out plan to paint the Fulani black, create chaos that will lead to demand for fragmentation of the country.
You wonder if the dismemberment of the country will solve what agitators see as the ultimate solution to the crafted “political problem” they created.
South Sudan, rich in oil, agitated and fought the North for secession. The North yielded, but the all Christian new republic is at war with itself – Tribal war. And the toll is hefty and still on-going.
Somalia is 100% Muslim, same tribe and same language,
yet peace elude them since the fall of President Said Barre about 35 years ago. Reason? Clans trying to exercise superiority.

Gov Ortom of Benue state

The problem with Nigeria is that most elite that fail to make it at the polls or did not get big political appointment turn to an opposition. They incite their blind followers and tribesmen to go to war with the government of the day.
The same unfortunate situation also unfolds at every level of governance, particularly in the Southeast and Southsouth where Governors have to cough out hefty sums of money monthly to settle monarchs, clan leaders and malitia generals in return for peace.
In the North, it is mostly religious conflict encouraged by outsiders, like I said from the beginning, to create chaos amongst the peoples that would pave way for the burial of Nigeria as one, indivisible, united country.
A facebook friend observed this morning: “Imagine what will happen  If it were Nasir El-Rufai that’s exposed to have Armed 1000 Men with AK-47 Rifles and paying them Salary in Kaduna State  like Governor Orton had done in Benue State today?
By now, CAN would have  issued Statement and further fuelled religious and ethnic  Sentiment. FFK will have released  his usual  bigoted Islamaphobic  Post.
All nay sayers of this Country would have come together by now and break the internet with a call for War. Print media would have  Started using  this report  in every Cover of their daily newspapers and Magazines.
It’s sad that a Governor who’s crying fowl over insecurity in his State will Arm 1000 Strange Men  with AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated Weapons that even CJTF who help Nigeria Army in Borno to quash  Boko Haram were never allowed to Carry.”
The herders/farmers conflict is very easy to settle, if the elite would be serious about it. But I doubt it very much. The sponsored militia will keep hunting and killing every herder they come across to escalate the problem for their desired result. And, unfortunately, the herders will undertake reprisal action. The cycle of killings will continue. May God bring an end to this madness…….Dr Tilde  34 wurno street kakuri kaduna
