President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo

Controversy continue to trail in Nigeria over the latter written to President Muhammadu Buhari by former President Olusegun Obasanjo advising President Buhari not to contest 2019 presidential election.
Obsanjo noted that Buhari lacks the capability and ability to rule the nation beyond 2019 due to reasons the former President outlined.
Some of the reasons advanced by the former President included:
Buhari’s impaired health status, his inability to manage the country’s economy, nepotism, slow nature of handling sensitive issues, insecurity, among other issues.
Below is one of the reactions going virile on social media:
“I read OBJ’s piece on the Buhari Administration and found it very intetesting. I personally think that we have been sold a dummy in Mr. Buhari.  I think he’s generally incompetent, excessively slow and ponderous even in matters of the utmost importance. He himself said last week that he was never in a hurry to do anything, even as people were being killed in some parts of the country.
“His economic policy is the same old monetarism in which the people are pauperized while the state accumulates huge resources for so-called infrastructural development. The foreign companies and other cronies of the Governmenrt get huge contracts while the living conditions of whole sections of the population go under.
“The factional infighting within the administration, from the Magu confirmation saga to the reinstatement of Maina and other insensitive remarks by Buhari himself are telling. It’s also clear that Buhari suffers from an endemic akrasia, a weakness of the will.
“OBJ is right that Buhari has failed to instil discipline within his cabinet. Consider the behaviour of the AG in his brazen attempt to stop the Senate from investigating the reinstatement of Maina. Consider also Buhari’s shocking inability to stop the sack of Mr. Munir Gwarzo by the Minister of Finance who is bent on blocking the Security and Exchange Commission led by Mr. Gwarzo  from investigating some OANDO functionaries. I think that Buhari is, without question, a huge disappointment.
“He is weak, politically naive, and self-deluded about his abilities.  I think Gali Naaba is right in saying that Buhari lacks the physical and intellectual capacity to lead Nigeria. Buhari it was that triggered the recession and the devaluation of the Naira through his infantile ecomonic policy and a reckless TSA dogmatism. Buhari came to Kano in December last year and rebuffed all attempts to get him to see the need to change his import policy.
“He arrogantly told everyone at the meeting that he was a Nigerian first before anything; that is, not a Kano president.  He characteristically missed the message, namely that he should have a much wider vision and take account of some economic policies that were hurting local or small scale business people.

“Finally, I completely agree with OBJ’s criticisms of Buhari.  I think the latter hasn’t much to offer as President.  His insensitive, megalomythic sense of himself would not allow him to learn and change his crude vision of economy and politics, said a concern citizen who wants remain unanimous on whats up.
