BOXER DIES FOLLOWING FIGHT IN ARGENTINA – JUST TWO DAYS AFTER RUSSIAN FIGHTER MAXIM DADASHEV

Boxer Hugo Santillan has died following a fight in Argentina.  The 23-year-old super lightweight died from injuries suffered during Saturday's fight with Uruguayan champion Eduardo Javier Abreu which ended in a draw.

Boxer Hugo Santillan has died following a fight in Argentina.

The 23-year-old super lightweight died from injuries suffered during Saturday’s fight with Uruguayan champion Eduardo Javier Abreu which ended in a draw.

Santillan’s passing was confirmed by the WBC, a statement read: ‘RIP Hugo Santillan. He passed away from injuries suffered during Saturday’s fight which ended in a draw.

‘We join Hugo’s family and friends in grief, support and wish prompt resignation.’

It comes just two days after Russian lightweight Maxim Dadashev, 28,  died after suffering a brain bleed following a brutal fight against a Puerto Rican opponent in Maryland.

The Argentine was hospitalised after fainting in the ring and needing oxygen following the brutal fight in San Nicolas. (Dailymail online)
